Summer Solstice & Summer Games

Summer has officially commenced! Yesterday was the Summer Solstice or the LONGEST day of the year! I was speaking with the team and was discussing games that are the BEST to play during the summer and wanted to share them with you!

The Secret of Shadow Ranch

Starting off STRONG is a fan favorite – The Secret of Shadow Ranch! From vegetable picking to staring into the dreamy eyes of Dave Gregory, this game is a perfect vibe for the summer! BUT MAKE SURE THOSE VEGETABLES ARE RIPE! If you’ve played this game, I think I can say with confidence we have all been personally victimized by Shorty whether he is yelling at us about vegetables or his yodeling skills. Either way, this game is SO fun to play to kick off the summer!

The Creature of Kapu Cave

Next up on our list is an entirely different and more beachy summer vibe – The Creature of Kapu Cave. I mean .. who doesn’t love Big Island Mike?! This game is my go-to during the summer because I love looking for sea shells, making snow cones and of course everyone’s favorite, FRASS SORTING (kidding)! But seriously, this game is a great reminder of how fun the beach can be! On top of what I already mentioned, this game has a great mystery and has it all – snorkeling, the Hardy Boys, and again… BIG ISLAND MIKE (his back must hurt from CARRYING this game to being one of the best summer games)! I recommend this game for anyone who is wanting to feel as if they are sitting on the beach, just relaxing, and of course, still solving a GREAT mystery!

Danger on Deception Island

I know I have seen this game on plenty of tier charts you’ve made about which games to play during the summer, and it is known for also being one of Indy’s favorites – Danger on Deception Island! I only have fond memories of this game as it is so fun, mysterious, and constantly keeps you on your toes! This game takes ‘boat life’ to a whole new level and teaches you so much about marine biology! I recommend this one for someone wanting a classic adventure to stumble upon and don’t forget… WHALES RULE!

The Haunted Carousel

Among the many other GREAT summer mysteries Nancy has solved, the final one I will mention here is The Haunted Carousel! If you ever went to carnivals or county fairs during the summertime, this game is going to be PERFECT to give you all the nostalgia and remind you of those fun times. From carnival games to ice cream, this game is so fun for the summer and does such a great job at immersing you in the spooky amusement park mystery!

I know there are many more games that are the best to play during the summer, so comment down below what games you also LOVE to play during this season! I WANNA KNOW! I love to see the charts you all make online about the games you play throughout the different times of the year so I can’t wait to hear your thoughts.

Are you doing anything fun this summer too? Traveling anywhere fun? Let us know below! Happy Summer!

My personal summer favorites are The Creature of Kapu Cave and Alibi in Ashes! Love them both so much and they just scream summer to me.

So, I know the answer will probably something like “when we have news to share, we’ll share” but are we going to receive news about any new games sometime soon… sometime this year? Next year?

  3. Anancydrewfan says:

Any news for the next game? No teasers or screenshots or anything? Y’all used to do this with other games. Y’all haven’t been fair to your fans. Just saying.

  4. Rebeka says:

Hi! Been a fan for years. Is a new a game really in the works? I’ve seen the vague responses in the past, just looking for a definitive “yes” or “no” 🙂

  5. Madi says:

I was looking at my laptop this morning and I have a sticker that says Star Industries on it and I thought it’d be kinda fun if we had Krolmeister stickers.

  6. Ethan K. says:

    Hey Her interactive,

I was curious if we had any updates on game 34? As a long-time fan, I feel worried that we haven’t heard anything in a while. Is Nancy Drew ending? If it is, I would be super bummed, but I would just like to know rather than wait. Sorry for the downer post. Big fan, just looking for information! Thank you so much!

    • Indy says:

  13. Chase M. says:

Can we please get an update on a new game? Literally anything would be nice.

  14. Madi says:

Not sure if this was ever answered in the past or if you can answer it at all, but I was just wondering why HeR switched game engines? A lot if people really like the old one better… but I was wondering if it was cheaper or something? Or is it because the old one just doesn’t work anymore or what? Any answer would be much appreciated, thanks.

    • Indy says:

Hi Madi! I was not around when the decision was made, however, Mac updated their systems so our old engine will work on any Macs running newer OS. In order to keep up with changing/newer technology, we switched from our proprietary game engine to a newer one that will continue to work on newer/up-to-date computers. – Indy

  15. Emerald says:

Oops, I meant to say it only took 4 years for MID to come out. My mistake. Lol.

  16. Nicole says:

Hello! I was overjoyed to see questions answered on here regarding the next game!! I know you can’t say any details yet, but I was wondering if you could say If any fan feedback from Midnight in Salem was/is part of the process for making game #34! Curious because my sister emailed HeR with feedback after we finished the game. Thank you!

    • Roo says:

Hi Nicole! We took all the feedback we could about Midnight in Salem and are definitely putting it to use on current projects so we can give you the next greatest Nancy Drew games 🙂 – Roo
