Returning Game Fears
Have you experienced this Nancy Drew moment?
Whenever I play a Nancy Drew game like Message in a Haunted Mansion, I usually know what’s coming next. However, I always fear entering the parlor because I haven’t quite figured out when the fire happens. Every time I pass through the door I hold my breath and listen for the change in dramatic music, and possibly the sound of crackling fire.
Do you ever get nervous about these moments? Perhaps when you know a ghost is coming, or when someone surprise attacks you? Like the appearance of the spider in Ghost of Thornton Hall or the Yurei in Shadow at the Water’s Edge. Yep. You know what part I’m talking about! XD
As for the weekend puzzle, you would have to take a look at the [runes] referenced in Curse of Blackmoor Manor… or by simply searching for my post with the guide to translate these here. The translation says [Returning phone friends], which is a hint for the future. 😉

I’ve totally had that moment in the past. I’ve played Message in a Haunted Mansion enough that it doesn’t happen any more with that one … but it took quite a few runs through. The one that I still freak out every time is the end of Stay Tuned for Danger. *shivers*
Yes, oh my gravy!! Whenever I hear the music change, I start clicking faster (there’s actually a meme for that…). I’m always nervous about SAW and GTH… I never know WHEN a ghost is going to appear!!

The fire is triggered after you’ve done the spindles on the staircase puzzle (unless everyone has already left the mansion, then it won’t trigger at all).
Haha yes SOOOO many times! And with the spider in GTH I almost threw my Kindle out the window! (not on purpose, luckily I never lost grasp of it) LOL 😛 ‘Returning phone characters’ huh? Now I’m very excited! 😀 Hopefully it’ll be Hotchkiss! It makes sense though, because apparently LIE is going to have a lot about Greek mythology in there…and since Prof. Hotchkiss knows about pretty much everything…she should come back as a phone friend! It’s been 4 games..come back, Hotchkiss! LOL I know, I’m crazy 😛

Sometimes I actually get frustrated when the fire doesn’t happen when I predicted. 😀 That’s why I always relive the thrill of the fire scene like it’s my first time — it comes when I least expect and I’m just as inexperienced each time!
