In my spare time, I work on the strategy guide for Treasure in the Royal Tower. (It’s one of the few games that does not have a guide written for it.) Anyways, while collecting some screenshots for the guide, I came across a few interesting shots!
This picture is a game placeholder for where a character is supposed to be positioned, so that the character artist knows how to frame the scene. Artist Tim, from way back in time while the game was being made, was the stand in.
This is a most fascinating scene – can you recognize it without ever seeing it before? In Professor Hotchkiss’s room, you are unable to look at the phone. And this is ok because there are no necessary clues or things to look at in this scene. “Hot spots” as we like to call them were many in the older games, but not all hot spots were programmed into the playable build, for whatever reason – like time. Lots of changes can happen over the course of making a game! Anyways, I thought it wouldn’t be too much of a tease to share that this scene was actually camera captured, just not added to the game play.
