Early Midnight Tips

Hey all! Today is the second day of MID being out and I’m enjoying watching your YouTube videos and Twitch streams. We’ve noticed a few things that I may need to call out to your attention.

Right-Mouse Clicks:

One major tip for those of you who are on a Macbook playing Midnight in Salem, you can right-mouse click when you use two fingers and press on the track pad. You may be able to edit your own computer settings to another setup if you prefer. However, MID is easiest played with an actual mouse that has both left and right-mouse buttons. πŸ˜‰ Today we added the note in the system requirements for the game that you need a mouse, keyboard and speakers. Although you can get by the game without the keyboard since it’s only used in naming your save games.

Digital Downloads:

If you pre-ordered a digital game, you should have the ability to look in your email or account for information to start downloading your game. If you do not see this or if it isn’t available, please let us know your name and order number in an email to customerservice@herinteractive.com.

Physical Games Shipping:

If you ordered a physical game, the games will be shipped from our warehouse in the midwest this week in the order they were placed. Wait for an email (or revisit your order confirmation email) for tracking info and more details. The arrival time of your game depends on where you are located and what shipping method you chose.

DVD Insert Printout:

For those of you who chose to buy the digital game, you can still add it to your bookshelf. In the download section of the MID page I uploaded the PDF print out that you can save, print out, cut out, and insert into your own blank DVD case. I highly recommend printing on glossy photo paper, it makes a world of difference! In my photos here below, I used regular computer paper, and it looks…not as radiant as could be. You can download the file here.

Want to see our team give more tips? Jai made and shared these videos that we have released so far called Midnight Minutes. Enjoy!

Are there plans for the next Nancy Drew game?

  2. Jay says:

Do you know when the preorder contest winner will be announced? πŸ™‚

  3. Jessica Thomas says:

The game play is so slow, I’m unable to navigate the game. It’s very frustrating and disappointing… even when my settings are at the lowest res.

  4. Alyssa says:

    Hi Little Jackalope,

I was wondering if you guys know when you’ll start work on the next ND game? Seeing as there was no trailer at the end of MID, I was curious.

  5. Lucy M says:

    Hey LJ,
Been a fan nearly 20 years and eagerly anticipating arrival of my physical copy. I understand they will be shipped in the order orders were placed, but so far I haven’t seen news of anyone getting a shipping confirmation with tracking number (checking on FB, Twitter, Reddit, and HeR message boards). I ordered within the first ten minutes of pre-orders and figured I’d be early on the list. How many copies are being sent out per day? Is it 10 or 100? How long should first day pre-orders expect to wait before their copies are shipped from the warehouse?
I’m sure this is a busy time at HeR and there is congestion with volume of orders. This message comes from a deep love for ND and I know there will be a wait, just trying to get a guess-timate on what that wait will be. Thank you! LM

Hi Lucy, I wish I could give you exact details about the shipping process and where your physical game is, but I do not have all the data. The only information I can offer is the tracking number in the email confirmation once the game leaves the warehouse. Sorry I can’t help any more than that!

      • Sam says:

Hello, I also ordered a physical game the day it came out but still have not received an email that confirms my copy has been shipped. Does this mean I should assume that it has not left the warehouse yet? Will I definitely get an email once it ships? Thank you! πŸ™‚

    • Elizabeth Mullins says:

I got my confirmation email today with a FedEx tracking number. Fear not, yours will come too! πŸ™‚

    • Lois C Dollar says:

Same!! This is absolutely ridiculous. I have already been charged for the order and it’s so awful that they treat customers like this to not even give them a timeline when we PRE-ORDERED.

      • Little Jackalope says:

Hi Lois, if you pre-ordered a physical copy, then the bank gets pinged to check if you have sufficient funds, and will sit as pending transaction. Once the game leaves the warehouse, the transaction completes and you are charged then.

  6. Katie says:

Is there any way to get the game not to be so laggy? Any settings I can manipulate in the game or on my machine? It’s a bit tedious the way it’s currently playing – the speech lags terribly, and since there is so much dialog in this game, it’s making things quite slow. I’m actually playing a game on my phone waiting for the dialogue subtitles to run their course so I can move on.

Thanks for any help you can give!

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hi Katie, one thing that seems to help is to adjust the game’s resolution to lower settings in your Advanced Settings menu. Try that and see what happens. πŸ™‚

  7. Thanks for including the link to the DVD case art! I was wondering, though, would you be able to make a version of the case art that matches those WONDERFUL 20th Anniversary DVD Inserts that came out in November 2018? They looked like the old stack of books that used to be the game menu for the original games! I love those so much that I updated all 32 of my games to have those cases! Would you be able to do one for MID, too, so that it can match the rest of my set? THANK YOU! <3

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hi Abigail! I will certainly add that request to my To-do list, but it may be a while since we are quite busy with the game launch. I’ll make a blog post in the future when I have it up!

  8. irryyss says:

Thanks for the updates! When will the winner of the pre-order prizes be announced?

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hi irryyss! The winner will be announced tomorrow (Friday). The winner will be alerted via email and we will post their name to our web site and to social media.

  9. Hey LJ, are you guys going to have a cookie contest this year or not?

  10. Are we having a twitch stream this month?

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hi Jillian! We are not having a Twitch stream this month, since we just launched the game. We want our players to enjoy their game play instead of watching us. πŸ˜‰

  11. What do you want for Christmas LJ?

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hi Jillian! What I want for Christmas is to relax and have fun with my family. Maybe play an old game, and get bundled up with a blanket and a good book or movie. πŸ™‚ Hope you get the game for Christmas!

      • Sounds like a good idea! I understand your favorite Christmas movie is The Santa Clause, my family I love those movies we like the first one the best though we have all three of them but we like the first a lot! I also really like the Hallmark Christmas movies too!

  12. LJ, I’ll be 25 on January 9th so can you guys give a shout out for my birthday please?

  13. Kathy Arnold says:

    Little jackalope.
Please help. I cant get the desk open. No key when clicking on the lantern. I have done all that I need to.

  14. Nikkie says:

Just beat MID and I couldn’t be any happier to solve yet another mystery. Could you pass on to the team that I’m proud that you guys worked hard these four years, mastering Unity and all that came with it, to make sure we get another game. It shows how you really care for your fans! Thank you HeR! From a fan.

    • Little Jackalope says:

Thank you for sharing, Nikkie! I will pass along your feedback to our team. In the meantime, would you consider writing a review, letting us know what you liked/didn’t like, what worked, didn’t work, etc? That would really help!

  15. Alyssa says:

Will the game be available in stores?

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hi Alyssa! No, the game will not be available in retail stores. πŸ™ The physical game is exclusive to herinteractive.com.

  16. Alex says:

Has HeR started planning the location and plot of the next game yet? I know you can’t tell us plot details, but I wondered if you knew at least.

  17. Annalyn says:

    Hi LJ!
At the end of the game, there’s some heavy hinting toward a location. Is this maybe where the next game will take place?

Really excited to see what happens next time.

You probably can’t answer, but can’t blame a girl for trying πŸ˜‰

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hi Annalyn! The hinting at the end is a definite possibility on the next game location, however, it is not confirmed where Nancy will go just yet. When I have more news to share, I will!

  18. What old video game are you going to play?

    • Little Jackalope says:

Well, I hope to play Star Wars Battlefront 2, Nancy Drew: shadow at the Water’s Edge, and maybe go back to Skyrim. πŸ™‚

  19. My brother Tim has been showing me the Star Wars, I saw Rogue One and New Hope so far!

  20. Natasha S says:

    Hi,
I’ve read the comments on the game lagging… I am having major issues with that. I got the digital download and it will get stuck on the loading screen for hours before even opening the game screen and often just crashes. I have tried uninstalling and installing again and it didn’t change. Played the game for 20 minutes after waiting hours for loading screen to pass, and upon trying to open the game to play again same thing. I have only made it past the loading screen once in 3 days of consistently trying.

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hi Natasha, I’m sorry the game keeps crashing on you, this sounds like a major issue! Would you please email us at techsupport@herinteractive.com so we can give you directions for getting those crash reports to us? That would really help us in trying figure out the issue. Thanks!
