Pre-Orders for MID: Oct. 15th
Dear Detectives,
Pre-orders and the official release date for Nancy Drew: Midnight in Salem has been pushed out, but, only by two weeks. Read our official letter here and re-mark your calendars for October 15th to pre-order and December 3rd to release date.
Creating a new game on a new engine with a new user interface, a new inventory, new animations, new puzzles, new navigation and more, this delay makes the most sense from our standing. MID is looking terrific, but there are a lot of things to polish and perfect to ensure a great playing experience. We don’t want the game crashing, or broken logic leaving you wondering what to do, or characters to say something that you haven’t asked them about yet, and we want you to be able to finish the game without getting blocked from accomplishing the next task on your task list.
We do apologize for the extended wait, but I can honestly say this one is the one that is worth it.
Here are a few quick FAQs:
- Pre-ordering will open at 11:00am PT on October 15th, 2019
- There will be a PC digital download, Mac digital download, and PC physical copy to choose from
- If you pre-order a digital copy, you may download your game on December 3rd, 2019
- If you pre-order a physical copy, we will ship them out on December 3rd in the order that people placed the orders
- There is no BONUS Edition for Midnight in Salem
- Physical copies for this game will ONLY be available at herinteractive.com, it will not be in retail stores like Target, Best Buy, or Walmart
- There is a limited run of 10,000 physical copies total, and once they are gone, no more will be made
- All Nancy Drew: Midnight in Salem games purchased at herinteractive.com will receive a free digital strategy guide
- We will not need 4 years to build the new games after MID, it will be sooner. 😉
- We will have a big prize pack – which can be won by a randomly selected winner from everyone who pre-orders – stay tuned for details!
We still have some 3D environments and more 3D characters to show off in the coming weeks! Also, please enjoy this bonus teaser trailer! (We will have a bigger, official trailer later!)
Note: the part with the line “I don’t know how to explain it, but I saw something,” is the new voice of Nancy, which was the same voice actress at the end of Sea of Darkness where it teases MID “Join me in my next adventure.”

Approximately how many hours of gameplay can we expect?
Hello Julie! Depending on how you play, give or take 15-20 hours is the rough average from my playing. 😉
While we all want a good game that works well, it’s the constant promises of release dates that is the problem. It makes a company look unprofessional to keep changing the information. That’s what’s annoying HER fans the most. It doesn’t seem like the company isn’t managing itself very well, new engine or not.
Nothing but false promises and excuses. Shame on you as an entire company. The way you have gone about this is totally insane, disrespectful and rude to your long-standing loyal fans. You advertised literally the night before regarding the preorders and then abruptly changed it the day of, when many people had their credit cards in hand. You don’t deserve our business, and I will not be pre ordering or purchasing this game. You’ve had many years to perfect it, and ample delays. It’s evident that you will be going out of business.
Hello Jenna, I apologize for upsetting you and fellow players who anticipated October 1st. We mean no disrespect and apologize for the delay to the pre-order and release dates. This delay was one that I am thankful happened – because as one of the testers, I wanted to be sure the game was worthy of releasing. We took extra time to put more polishing into the game. Again, I apologize to the spontaneous delay. I hope the game will meet our players’ expectations.

Hi Jillian! We haven’t revealed the name of the new voice actress for Nancy, but we will in the next month!
The teaser looks great! But I am curious, will the navigation be the same as the older games or will it be something like from this game?

Hello Andrew! I do not see any cursors in that trailer for that game, but the graphics have some similarities to Midnight in Salem. We will be sharing more information about it a little later. 🙂
While I’m sad that I didn’t get to pre-order today, I will saythat I’m all for the date you guys chose to move it too. I get my 30-week ultrasound that day, so now I have 2 things to look forward to on the 15th!

Are there current plans in the works for the game(s) after MID?I think a lot of us fans are worried the HER might go out of business.
Hello Alyssa! Don’t believe the rumors about us going out of business. We do have early plans for future Nancy Drew games, so stay tuned for updates in the future!
That’s okay. Two weeks isn’t that long anyway. I appreciate your honesty and I’m glad you’re doing all that you can to make this game perfect. While others may be discouraged, as a person who works in a creative field myself I completely understand all the hard work and dedication, and I know how long projects can take. As for the trailer, it looks fantastic!!! The improvement clearly shows, and I absolutely cannot wait for this game! The new actress for Nancy will take some getting used to, but overall I think your company has made good decisions in stepping forward. I truly believe that Midnight in Salem is going to be a wonderful game, and I cannot wait to see what else you bring in the future!

Is the voice in this trailer Nancy’s new voice or not? Whoever is posting replies on your Youtube channel has said that this IS NOT the voice of Nancy and that her voice will be released later.

What is bothersome is that the new date is posted at the end of the teaser, signaling that you knew about this date change and decided not to tell anyone on the day of preorders. Why not be honest and give everyone a heads up? It makes it hard to believe you will actually follow through on the 15th, even though I hope you will!
Hello Stephanie, I apologize for the late notice to the date change. The teaser was updated last-minute to reflect the change as well. Thankfully, we are now live with pre-orders today, after all.
I’m slightly confused… If I order a physical copy of the game, will the CD work on both PC and Mac or will it only work on one platform?
Hello Jordan! The physical CD is only Windows compatible. The Mac version is only available as a digital download. 🙁
So, there is no point at all in pre-ordering MID, good to know.
And in the comment section of this teaser on Youtube HeR Interactive says there is NO new Nancy’s voice in this video… Confusing.
Hello Catherine! When we saw those comments we were confused, thinking people were commenting on Olivia’s voice being the Nancy voice. Olivia speaks most of the lines in the teaser. But yes, Nancy’s line “I don’t know how to explain it, but I saw something” is indeed the new voice of Nancy. I apologize for this confusion!

Why is their a limited amount of physical copies? I love solving the mysteries and look forward to new games coming out but I don’t want a digital download since I’ll have to repurchase the game if I need to replace my laptop. If Her stops offering physical copies I’m probably not going to buy the games anymore. Why after preordering do we have to wait a little over a month to get the game?

Hello Annie! The magnifying glass is one of the cursors in the game. There will also be arrow cursors and hand cursors. 😀
Ooft. Now I’m torn. I really want a boxed version, but then again I want to play it the day it comes out. Logically it doesn’t make sense to buy both but I’m really tempted haha.

Hello Cambria! One option you can consider is this: find a blank DVD case, and once the cover art is revealed for MID, I will be offering a free digital PDF download of the DVD insert art. All you have to do is print it out, slip it into your case, and back up your digital game copy to a blank DVD disc. That way, you can play the digital game the day it is released, and still have that shelf display. 😉

Hello Hamad! That’s a tough question! But if I were choosing, I’d pick Volume 2. CAP and TMB are great games!
What kind of limitations will be on the digital downloads? Will we be able to download the game as many times as we want, or do we lose the game if we have to delete and re-install? I understand why HeR may want to encourage digital downloading, but I want to be sure that if I pay for a game, I won’t have to pay for it more than once.
Hello TC, you may download as many times as you need to from our store within the first 30 days. The Extended Download Service extends this to five years, however, you are also welcome to back up your digital game to a blank disc or a jump drive large enough to save it.
Hey LJ, I have a question about the game stats. The games features say that we get to meet and interact with all 11 characters, but only 10 characters have been introduced. Is there a secret character we haven’t learned about yet?

If I am forced to get the digital download because you run out of physical copies, will you at least sell a backup disc at a discount?
Random question about the Nancy Drew blanket (fleece throw) for sale on your linked website. Is there a possibility we will see the design printed horizontally (portrait instead of landscape) so that it can be placed on a bed like a duvet or throw with the images running top to bottom instead of side to side? Eg. A vertical portrait print instead of a landscape horizontal print. I like the images but am not a fan of how it would lay on a bed and would prefer the vertical design.

Ooh my God I’m so excited. I bet this will be worth the wait. I have been playing with my sisters ever since I was basically 3. True, I didnt really understand, but I was hooked. I’ve got my alarm ready to pre-order at 10:50. It’s finally come! From what I can tell, you guys have worked hard despite what everyone else thought. Even though you pushed the date back a little, at least it’s not a couple months. As Nancy says, It’s up to you as Nancy Drew! Good job guys!

I have to say, I’m not a fan of Nancys new voice.
It’s not a bad voice, it’s just when i hear it I don’t think of Nancy Drew. It reminds me of people she met in the past games, with the deeper voice.
I’ll just have to hope I’ll get used to it.
I have to wonder what happened with the last voice actor that their changing the voice.
