Finding Pirates
As someone who keeps up with Nancy Drew news daily for my job, I’m sometimes alerted to Nancy Drew things that aren’t really good…
Once upon a time, we made our strategy guides in black and white (but the cover was colored) and in actual printed books. These books were available for sale only on our web site. Later, when Tomb of the Lost Queen came out, we stopped printing them to save paper, and had all of our game’s strategy guides made available in digital PDFs. The Silent Spy and newer are in color and the table of contents are more clear and can link directly to the page you are looking for.
Also, the digital guides come free when you purchase the corresponding game from our web site!
I caution anyone who buys Nancy Drew games and guides used. Some games and guides are bootlegged – meaning they have been copied onto another disc to sell as a duplicate. Recently, I was made aware of someone doing this with our Strategy Guides on eBay. From what you just learned, can you spot the fakes below? (Click on the images for a larger view.)
It’s ironic what they printed on top of the beautiful art!
While it’s ok for you to back up your games and guides on blank CDs or jump drives for your own sake, it’s not ok to resell those digital backups. Have any of you noticed bootlegged games or guides out there? 😉 It takes a very keen observation skill!

How do we know a guide is legit and not a bootleg?
Guides from games 1-25 when in booklet form, are real. Check the inside to make sure it’s by HeR Interactive. All guides are available in pdf digital form and are real, but if any digital guide is on a disc – it is bootlegged when they try to sell it again.
good to know! Thx!
I have a question. In the new game, are we going to find out what happened between Nancy and Ned’s love life?
Hello Izzy! That has yet to be revealed. 😉 No spoilers from me, sorry.
I had some ND games stolen from me about a year ago. Sure wish I made backups. 🙁
Most of them were used and, some of them, looked like that.
Oh dear! I’m so sorry that happened, Nancy. 🙁
