Playing on a Tablet (Weekend Puzzle #331)
Today I got to play a little bit of Ghost of Thornton Hall on an iPad. (I was looking for a bug or two.) I hadn’t done this before, so I was intrigued with how it looks and works differently on the tablet than on a computer. Same scenario, haha, I had to brighten the screen up. The animations moved more fluidly, and Harper was much creepier. Some puzzles are more fun to play on the tablet because of click-and-drag features…. with the finger instead of a mouse. Have you played GTH on a tablet? What are your thoughts?
On a side note, the Oscars are this weekend! The Academy Awards have the Oscars, but our Nancy Drew games have The Hotchkiss Awards. What would you vote for each game?
Here’s your weekend puzzle:

When is the next PC game going to be available?? We’ve heard NO updates, and the normal time between games passed a while ago.
Hi Felicia! We don’t have nay news or a release date for the next Nancy Drew game. When we do, we will post it on the web page.
Will the app for Ghost of Thornton Hall ever be available on Android devices?
Hi! It already is available in the Google Play store. There’s a link to it here on the page.
Will there be an update on MID in March? (Not release date)
Hi George! We don’t have any news planned to share anytime soon, but stay tuned!
“Lady Bug Lady Bug fly away home.”

That list was honestly really hard. I love all of the Nancy Drew games a ton, I’m sure everyone can agree with me on that haha~ 😀
I’ve always preferred the PC. It’s not that I didn’t like the tablet version, it’s just that I’m more used to playing on a PC.

Best Music: Sea of Darkeness
Best Female Charactor: Deirdre Shannon
Best Male Character: Dave Gregory
Best Puzzle: The Sneezing Powder contraption puzzle in Legend of the Crystal Skull.

Will MID be available on PS4 by chance?
We don’t have that information to to share yet, sorry!
Hi LJ!
How can you play without a mouse? Someone said it was hard to find the hotspots and they just had to tap everywhere until they found one.
Is there an easier way to play?
Thank you!
Hi Jackson! I had to tap everywhere on the screen, too. I’m not sure if there is an easier way to play on the tablets.
Those categories are tough! So many choices!
As much as I love all of the Nancy Drew soundtracks, I’d say the Best Music award should go to Tomb of the Lost Queen.
Hi LJ! Sorry to bring up MID, and if you can’t answer this question, I understand. I know that switching the game process can be hard, hence the VERY long delay. Do you anticipate that this humongous wait will just be for MID, and that once MID is complete, the game creators will have the rhythm down, and you’ll be able to give us news/updates more readily for game #34 and onwards?
My second question – it’s been a while since anyone’s asked, so I thought I would – has the planning process started yet for game #34?
And my third and last question – do you know if characters like Bess and the Hardy Boys will keep the same voice actors/actresses? (Ever since I found out that Nancy’s voice would change, I’ve been dreading that the others’ also might.)
Hi Limeheart! While I don’t have any solid answers just yet, I can say that we hope to have a steady rythym down once the new process of making a Nancy Drew game on the new engine is over. Only then can we get a proper feel and idea of a schedule of how long it would take the next game. I don’t know if the design team has put much planning into game 34 yet, since we are focused on 33 first.
As for the character voices, we hope to always have the same voice actors for the regular characters, but actors’ availability varies depending on their schedule and other work opportunities. 🙂
Best Story: Shadow at Water’s Edge
Best Music: Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon
Best Female Character: Bess Marvin
Best Male Character: Sony Joon
Best Puzzle: Yumi’s Bento Box puzzle in Shadow at Water’s Edge
Best Location: The set in Labyrinth of Lies
Best Overall Game: Stay Tuned for Danger
I love all these games so much, but I had to go with Stay Tuned for Danger for the best one, because it was the first one I played and I felt so much suspense in every scene, in that game, like anything could happen at any moment!!
Lj, How does Her Interactive think of the title of the games? do they just pick random things until its a good title? and how you came up with Midnight in Salem?
Hi Teresa! The design team gets together and discusses the topics and themes of the game, then we brainstorm key words to describe it. Next we come up with possible titles, think about it for a week or so, then send out an office vote (or simply decide) for the top 5-10 options, narrowing it down to one.
Do you have any ND games on the google play store?? I cant find one
We do! Look for Nancy Drew: Ghost of Thornton Hall. 😉
I just checked it didn’t show up 🙁
Hm, that’s odd. We’ll have to look into it. Have you seen it here?
Yeah on the website but my phone only has Codes and clues not that game u said.
Teresa, feel free to email us at techsupport@herinteractive.com if you have trouble finding it on the Google Play store. Thanks!
Hi again Teresa, the GTH mobile game doesn’t work on phones, only tablets. Check your tablet specs and compare it with the game specs to see if it’s compatible.
I do want to say that when I go to Ghost of Thornton Hall on Google Play, it said the game version is not compatible with my device and I have an Adroid.
Hi Amy, check the specs on the game and compare it to your tablet. (It won’t work on phones.)
Oh…heh. It’s not a tablet. It’s a phone… 🙂 but it would be really cool if HeR can make the computer games into the Android phone like Codes and Clues!
