“Drew” Not Picked Up

If you’ve been following the news, over the weekend CBS decided to not pick up the TV show “Drew,” the modern-day Nancy Drew series that was meant to air this fall. In several articles like this one, it’s noted that while the pilot screened well, CBS didn’t want it because it was “too female” for their season line-up and didn’t come on strong as the network would have hoped. You can read the article here in The Hollywood Reporter.

The actress who played Nancy Drew, Sarah Shahi, responded via Twitter which appeared in this article here.

If you were hoping for this TV show to air, there may still be hope – another network could potentially pick it up. We shall see!

    “Too female”. That’s dumb.

  3. Angela says:

I think another network should pick it up because Drew deserves better.

I don’t understand that phrase, “too female.” Why exactly is that a problem, when the majority of the shows on the network are male oriented. Just my two-cents.

  5. Hannah says:

Aw, I was excited for that! Oh well, lets hope it gets picked up by another network.

  6. Alex says:

I agree with Sarah Shahi: We need strong female role models. And Nancy Drew is one for sure.

  7. Gabby Hardwood says:

this would be such a great show! it could be like sherlock meets svu, only because Olivia Benson is such a strong female lead. ugh. hope something comes of it

  8. The Red Wolf says:

We do need strong female role models, but Nancy Drew has already been established as one and none of the TV shows or movies have managed to capture the original Nancy Drew. Herinteractive is the only one who has managed that and even they have gone and changed her voice. Still hoping that that won’t be as bad as I think.
