Classic Nancy vs Debutante Nancy
June 24th, 2015
An interesting article came out written about the original Nancy Drew vs the re-written Nancy Drew character. Check it out here!
Which type of Nancy are you familiar with? I grew up reading the yellow back revised Nancy Drew books, but I own a couple of originals.

I’ve accually only read one or two of the originals- I read all the yellow back revised ones though.
From this article I accually like parts of both Nancys- but I would say that I think the games have my favorite Nancy, cuz it’s a nice mix. 😉

I’m familiar with the Nancy Drew of the Nancy Drew Files series. I found the books to be action-packed and I loved the interaction between the characters.
I actually found the original Secret of Shadow Ranch at a friend’s library two weeks ago. I read in like two hours and was astonished at the difference!! I, like you LJ, have grown up with the yellow-backed NDs. This Nancy was not the same! 🙂 Although I greatly appreciated the more complex language and sentence phrasing (it was soooo much better than the yellows, personally). Although I feel like I can’t call myself a true ND fan for this, I like the revised Nancy better. She’s more of the person I’d like to be, kind, polite, and not always being portrayed as better, smarter, and stronger than all the men in the books. 🙂 thanks for letting me ramble…
The yellow hardback ones are my favorite 🙂
I was wondering if I could have a birthday shoutout on July 4? I am turning 14. If not that’s fine 🙂
You bet!
Oh, I love the originals. I have PLENTY of originals, and even a couple first editions. My Grandma used to collect them, and she gave her entire collection to me.
I have three versions of the “Clue of the Leaning Chimney”
Can you mark my mom’s birthday on her calendar? Her name is Marcie. Her birthday is on July 2nd.
You bet!
Sorry. I meant to put your calendar. lol
Hey, LJ! I was just wondering-although this is completely random-if you were to categorize games such as HAU or CAP, would you put them under scary games or historical/cultural games?
I personally would put CAP as International/Cultural and HAU would be International/Scary. 😉
I’m familiar with both. I actually was lucky enough to get my hands on 16 blue books(the unrevised version.)I have almost all the yellow books though. I’m so close to having them al!
