Cozy Fireplaces

The Nancy Drew universe has some pretty cozy fireplaces, I mean, even I can’t blame Charlie 😂.  I absolutely love fireplaces. If I was in the Sound of Music and had to make a song about my favorite things they would definitely make the first verse.

The ambience and aesthetic of Icicle Creek Lodge’s fireplace probably make it my very favorite in the Nancy Drew universe. I love the crackling fire and the cozy wintery feel.

One honorable mention is the fireplace of Wickford castle.

One game I completely forgot even had a fireplace was Castle Malloy! It is probably my least favorite, as the giant hole in the structure of the house probably sucks away any warmth put out by the fire! But man, it does have some pretty cool suits of armor on either side.

One game I wish had a crackling fire is Curse of Blackmoor Manor. How cool would a fireplace in Brigette’s room have been! I can just picture it, there would have been some sort of puzzle/design with tiles that would light up like constellations from the glow of the fire. Maybe even a second chance scene if you go to bed without putting out the fire. Or if you touch the tiles of the puzzle after the fireplace has been going on too long you burn yourself and have to leave. I tried googling inspiration pictures to share with you but the closest thing I could get to what I am picturing is this from a website called Royal Design Studio.

All of this fireplace reminiscing is in credit to a fan who recently created this AMAZING video of all the “Cozy Fireplaces of the Nancy Drew Games.” What makes me love this video so much is they added background music from all the different games! I have had this video playing nonstop today while I worked.  I, unfortunately, live on the 3rd floor of an apartment above a restaurant and my cute little (and dare I say dream apartment) is missing only one thing–a fireplace. So, with the thanks to Goob and Jetpack’s video, I now know what video will be playing all winter long on my tv to really make me feel like it’s the holidays!

Which in-game fireplace is your favorite?

Oh, I’m just coming up with a Christmas interior for my dollhouse project. And I completely forgot about the fireplace! Thank you for reminding me.
    The video is really great.
I come here very often, because I feel that there will be news about a new game soon.
I am sure that the new game will be in an old Austrian castle, in which there may be a fireplace.
    Am I right, Indy? 😉

Perhaps Nancy and her little friends could revisit Shadow Ranch for a Christmas adventure. Even in the desert, it sometimes is cold enough for a fire in the fireplace. The ranch house living room would glow in firelight!

Thanks for this cool ND video! 🙂

I want to nap by the fireplace in Icicle Creek Lodge. I wish I had a fireplace, but I live in a student apartment. I’m putting up my tree to get into the mood for Christmas.

    Off topic….
I’m guessing the answer is no, but there’s no harm in asking: do you think/know if Her Interactive might go into other systems like Nintendo Switch, Playstation, or XBox? I know they’ve said in the past they wanted to do VR (hopefully they won’t completely switch over to that). I know a few games that were on steam and are now on Switch that work great as a console game (Jenny LeClue, Tangle Tower, and Stardew Valley). Not to mention Her did put White Wolf on the Wii…
Just think it be cool (and probably reach a larger audience).

      Hi Madi,
I can definitely pass this question along and see if some of the members of our development team have a different response. I know steam is working on something that I understand to be their version of the Nintendo Switch called Steam Deck. It will be a handheld device that can play the games found on steam. I’m not sure about the PlayStation or XBox but I know one of the hopes with our switch to Unity is that it will make the games easier to copy onto platforms like PlayStation or XBox. We do have a patch on our website that allows you to play the game with an XBox controller. You can follow Tess’s directions with this tutorial video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tr-hJJc3gX4

I hope that helps answer some of your questions!

Lets focus on one platform or we will never get a game. Its also so expensive to have so many different kinds, its not cost effective and would sell like ten copies max. Dont do this HER, we are all fine with just computer!
