The Midnight Price

Today we added the new price for Nancy Drew: Midnight in Salem to the MID product page. Our games have been $19.99 for a very long time, but with all the advancements and updates for making Nancy Drew games accessible and modern for playing on new operating systems, and potentially new consoles, the new price will be $21.99. That’s only a two-dollar difference.

Did you know that the original Secrets Can Kill was originally set to release at $49.99?  Thankfully, SCK was actually released at $29.99 but the price was lowered again in just a few years and has remained at $19.99 for a decade or more.

When pre-orders begin for Midnight in Salem, we will only have PC and Mac versions available for purchase. HerInteractive.com will be the ONLY place that will offer physical and digital copies of the game. Due to retail stores no longer carrying PC/Mac games, the 33rd installment of Nancy Drew will NOT be available on shelves. Please keep in mind that we will have a limited run of units for the physical version of the game, and once they run out, only the digital downloads will remain.

Stay tuned for more updates, as we continue to prep for the launch of Nancy Drew: Midnight in Salem.

Will you be taking orders over the phone or only on the website? Thank you

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello Black rose1984! We can take orders over the phone – but it will require the same information to process and order. (Name, mailing address, payment information, etc.) 🙂

  2. Blackrose1984 says:

I see you don’t have a number listed anymore so I guess that would be a no to my question. I used to call in and order the games when I was younger I think I still remember the number. Lol

  3. WHOA BABY!!!!!!!!!!! That would be very expensive for a first game in the Nancy Drew Computer Game, 49.99 “whistle”! Good thing you lowered the price! Don’t wanna make the games that much money they would be impossible to get that way! 21.99 that’s not a bad price just don’t make the price higher then that okay?

    • Little Jackalope says:

Haha! I know, $50 is a crazy amount, but back then it was almost reasonable. These days, the big games like Halo, Destiny, Minecraft and more cost more than $20, though. Our games are less famous, shorter and smaller by comparison. 😉

  4. And yeah I get your point about the stores not having them on shelves LJ, because these days people go on the Internet to buy stuff like that

  5. Yeah that’s how I got Phantom Of Venice, my second game, haha!I mean buying them on the internet not really the same as seeing them on the shelf but it’s the enjoyment of the game and working on anybody’s computer that matters!

  6. Yeah like most people I know who love Nancy Drew as well, has never heard of the games, they’ve only read the books but I’m always recommend that they try them whether when I’m at church, work, theater practice, etc. I think my older brother who is usually the one who gets me most of the games for Christmas and Birthday used to play Halo a long time ago and I think my little cousins play Minecraft.

  7. Amanda says:

Is MID going to eventually be released on Steam like the rest of the games?
I’ve noticed it being pretty heavily advertised in the descriptions of some of the games over there.

  8. Kokokringlecat22 says:

Is $21.99 the physical or digital price, or is it both?
Thanks for the update, LJ! 🙂 Can’t wait for October!

  9. budford says:

Just curious why you changed the price for this one?

    • Little Jackalope says:

The price change is to account for the larger scope of the game – as we are aiming to make the game bigger, better, and with more content. It also accounts for the inflation since 1998.

  10. Claire says:

If you pre-order the download version of MID, will it be available on the release date, or a few days earlier?

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello Claire! If you pre-order the digital copy, it will be available to you to download on Dec. 3rd. The physical copies will start shipping out on Dec. 3rd as well.

  11. S.M. says:

Hello, I was just wondering if Midnight In Salem will be available on Amazon.ca? If not, what phone number do I call to order and do you ship to Canada? Thank you for your time.

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello! Physical copies of the game will only be available at herinteractive.com. Digital copies will be available on Amazon, but we do not have an exact date on them for the Amazon.ca site.

  12. karen says:

will there be a demo of the game?

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello Karen! No, sorry, there will not be a demo of MID, but we do plan on showing a little more in the future.

  13. StandingHaiku says:

Do you know what time pre-orders will begin?

I stayed up till midnight to order immediately for Ghost of Thornton Hall, but turned out orders didn’t start till like 12 or something like that. I’ve been pretty lax about ordering first since then, but I’m insanely excited about this and I NEED a physical copy.

  14. StandingHaiku says:

    Noon is what I meant

  15. C. A. Connor says:

Will there be a MID trailer available before the pre-order date?

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello! An official trailer is being worked on now, and it might be saved for pre-order date, but most likely closer to Halloween. We shall see!

  16. I thought you said you started playing them when you were 11 in 2000.

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hi Jillian! Did I typo that someplace? You are correct, I was 11 in 2000 when I discovered MHM for the first time.

  17. Ash says:

Will online places like Amazon sell the physical copies? That’s where I usually buy my physical copies of games.

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello ASH! The only way to get a physical copy will be at herinteractive.com. Amazon will only have the digital copy.

  18. Justice Baker says:

Do you think Sonny Joon is gonna join the Are 51 raid? XD

  19. Sophia K. A. says:

For some reason, I thought Nancy Drew games were $35 so this is a pleasant surprise to me. XD

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello Sophia! Well, I suppose if you add tax, shipping if it’s physical, or the EDS it may add up to that.

  20. Ryan says:

Will there be a official trailer soon??

  21. The Red Wolf says:

It’s also hard to find computer games in stores now, at least in my area; everyone’s on X-box, Wii, and Playstation. I’ve never used any of those. I love good old-fashioned computer games.

    • Little Jackalope says:

Here in the big cities of Washington state, it’s really hard to find computer games in stores, too. 🙁

  22. Jess says:

I noticed Jane’s tapestry is for sale in the teespring shop…is there any chance you guys will be adding the tapestry from MHM? That would be so amazing!

  23. Michelle Whelen says:

So…does this mean that this game won’t be sold on Amazon? Because (no offense to you guys) I usually bought most of my newer ND games on either Amazon or Best Buy.

    • Little Jackalope says:

The game will be available on Amazon and Steam, but only as digital downloads. The physical copies will only be available at herinteractive.com.

  24. Abby says:

I have a super old laptop that I use specifically for all of my Nancy Drew games with a DVD port and I have a newer laptop without a DVD port. I really want a physical copy of MID and am planning on buying it. However if at any point my computer stops working I won’t be able to use my physical copy of the game anymore- will I have to buy a second digital copy of MID to play it?

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hi Abby! There are a few methods you can try if you really want the hard copy: 1. Purchase an external DVD disc drive for your new laptop to play the physical game. 2. Buy the digital download and print out our DVD insert to fill your own blank case (we’ll have this when the cover art is released). 3. Find a computer to backup your disc to a jump drive to save the digital game – but I cannot guarantee this will work.

  25. Himeko says:

Will pre-ordering be available on Steam? It’s my preferred game purchasing situation at the moment as I move frequently. (Life of a student.)

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello Himeko! MID will be available on Steam when we release the game, but I don’t know about pre-ordering over there, yet.

  26. HollyTAngus says:

Will the presale be at a certain time on the 1st or is it going to be right at 12AM?

  27. Susan says:

I would like to continue the collection of the ND Games so looking forward to the next and so on! LOL… someone has asked me if you accept Gift cards to purchase a game??
    Thanks!

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello Susan! I think it is possible to use a Visa gift card during the check out process, but I remember it being very tricky. It’s much easier to use a debit card, or credit card. Or Paypal, but Paypal charges immediately.

  28. Jessica says:

What time do pre orders start on the 1st?

  29. Detective says:

If I preorder am I charged right away or when the game is shipped?

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello Detective! If you pre-order the game with a debit card or credit card, it will not be charged until the game is released or ships. If you pay with Paypal, you will be charged right away.

  30. Hey LJ, What Time does pre-orders for MID start on October first and how long do they usually last for the physical copies?

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello again, Jillian! I may have already answered you someplace else, but just in case you missed it: Pre-orders will be open at 11:00am Pacific time, today.

  31. Hey LJ what times does Pre-Orders for Midnight in Salem start and and how long does pre- orders last for physical copies?

    • Little Jackalope says:

Oh! and I forgot – pre-orders for physical copies often last a week or so, but since the anticipation is high for this game, there’s no telling exactly how fast they will sell out.

  32. When can I call and get a pre ordered physical copy?

    • Little Jackalope says:

Yes, you may call. 🙂 Today the pre-orders will open at 11:00am Pacific time. Physical copies will be available while supplies last.

  33. Nicole says:

is there going to be a costume contest this year?

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello Nicole! No costume contest this Halloween since we had one earlier this year. We do have the pumpkin carving contest, though! Check out our Contest page for details!

  34. Sarah says:

Will MID be available on Steam? I would buy a digital copy from your website, but Digital River’s download policy isn’t very accommodating. Steam is great for having all my games in one place, and I can download them anytime I want. Please consider making MID available there!

  35. Sidney M says:

Hey LJ will preorders start right at 12am on October 1st? And would it be 12am PST?

  36. Huw Miller says:

Do you know what time of day the pre orders will open on October 1st?

  37. Guest says:

Will the game format be first person point-and-click like before?

  38. Alyssa says:

    Hey LJ,

I noticed on the game features section for MID it says “Meet and interact with all 11 characters”. I counted ten (counting Frank and Joe individually), was this a typo or are we maybe going to see Nancy for the first time?!

    • Little Jackalope says:

There are 11 character, but it depends on how they are counted. There will be more than 11 if you count non-suspects and phone characters.

  39. Hamad Alsaqi says:

Hi LJ!! I just have a random question, is it possible to have Ghost of Thornton Hall be compatible on Iphones as well as IPads? Is that possible in the near future? I remember back then it was argued that the screens were too little . I hope this does happen though

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello Hamad! When we made GTH for the tablets, we really wanted to make it work on phones, too. However, our games are so detailed that when we tried the phone, it didn’t have a great experience. 🙁

  40. Len says:

Will there be a VR mode?

    • Little Jackalope says:

When we first release the game, it will play like a classic computer game. It’s possible for VR in the future!

  41. The Red Wolf says:

Hi Little Jackalope, is there a time when the pre-orders kick off?

  42. Natasha says:

What time is pre ordering going to start? There’s been no announcements and I’m anxious to make sure I get a physical copy 🙁

  43. Meaghan says:

    What time on October 1?

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello Meaghan! I apologize for the delayed response! Pre-orders are now live for Nancy Drew: Midnight in Salem!

  44. Darlene Bromley says:

Will the strategy guide be ready for purchase also ( disc).

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello Darlene! The strategy guide will be included with the purchase of the game for free, but will currently be available only as a digital PDF download. It’s possible we might include it on disc in the future, but there is no confirmation at this time.

  45. Jackie says:

Are preorders still starting tomorrow or was that moved to a different date? If so, what time & time zone will preorders begin? I need to set an alarm clock!

  46. Jessi Frankhouse says:

    Hello!

I am very excited about the pre order but have not noticed much information regarding the pre order. What time do the preorders start? Is it at midnight? Thanks so much!

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello Jessi, I apologize for the delayed response. Pre-orders are now open for Nancy Drew: Midnight in Salem.

  47. Beth says:

What time on October 1st will the pre-orders be available?

  48. Teanna says:

This may be a dumb question ! Is there a benefit to pre ordering the game? I have never preordered a game before . Nancy drew is really the only game I play and would consider to pre order . I’ve been waiting years for this game to be released so if pre ordering means playing sooner I’m all in!!!

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello Teanna! The physical copy of the game is only available at herinteractive.com and there is a limited quantity. If you claim your copy during pre-orders before we run out, you are guaranteed a hard copy. We also happen to be offering a random drawing for all who pre-order: one lucky winner will win a new computer package. 🙂

  49. Sarah Maderazo says:

    What time will pre-orders start?

  50. Kristine says:

    What time will preorders begin???

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello Kristine! I apologize for the delayed response. Pre-orders are now open for Nancy Drew: Midnight in Salem.

  51. Kristine says:

    When will pre-orders begin???

  52. Jessica says:

Can you guys please add the MHM poem tapestry design to the teespring shop?

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello Jessica! We are working on it. I will post about it on the blog when it is live and when I have the chance to talk about it. 🙂

  53. Foundation2430 says:

What happened? Pre-orders were supposed to be on Oct. 1st?????? Why Oct 15TH now???? Y’all must’ve just changed because this morning it was oct. 1st.

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello Foundation2430, I apologize for the delayed response. Yes, the pre-orders were pushed back two weeks, but we are now live with them for Nancy Drew: Midnight in Salem. I talk about this in another blog post if you are interested in more detail.

  54. Susan Dugger says:

Will the strategy guide be ready for purchase also ( disc)., i was wondering that too.

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello Susan! The strategy guide will be included free with the purchase of any copy of the game. It will later be available for digital download purchase separately later.

  55. Lor says:

Will the physical disk continue to be PC/MAC compatible like the previous iterations of the game?
    Thank you!

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello Lor! No, there is only a Windows physical disc. The Mac game is only available as digital download. 🙁

  56. Brooke says:

Hi there! Will the physical copy work on both Mac and PC like they have in the past? Thanks!

  57. Julie says:

I’ve noticed that some of the games that are available for Mac on the Her website are only available for Windows on Steam. Why is this, and will MID be available for both Mac and Windows when it’s on Steam?

    • Little Jackalope says:

Hello Julie, I believe the SAW mac build was having trouble on Steam, so that may be gone from their store. Was there another game you had in mind? MID will be available on Steam for both Windows and Mac.

      • Julie says:

It seems to be the latest four games: The Silent Spy, Sea of Darkness, The Shattered Medallion, and Labyrinth of Lies. I see a Mac version for all of these on your site, but on Steam, I only see the Windows icon for them.

  58. is there any games you guys have on digital copy for a mac

  59. Lysol says:

Are there going to be more new Nancy Drew games coming out soon?
