Interview with 3D Artist, Lyndon!
We interviewed one of our amazing artists, Lyndon!
Her Interactive: When you were in elementary school, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Lyndon: One of my teachers had a friend that was a pilot of the SR-71 Blackbird. I thought that was the coolest job ever. It was either that or a Doctor. I wore glasses so being a pilot was not going to happen. I get queasy when I see blood, so no medical school for me. Being an artist was the best fit.
Her Interactive: How long have you worked at Her Interactive?
Lyndon: Oh I haven’t been here that long. This past August was my 2 year anniversary.
Her Interactive: Could you tell us more about the environments you worked on in The Deadly Device?
Lyndon: I worked on the regular Laboratory and the Photolithography Lab. I had a great time with both. I tried to make the lab have a “used” feel and not the usual clean and sterile look. I think I came out nicely.
Her Interactive: When you aren’t making awesome games, what do you do for fun? Any hobbies?
Lyndon: Hehehe, I guess that would be hanging out with my little boy and my wife. When I do have some time to myself, I’m usually playing a video game or reading a book.
Her Interactive: If you were the main character of a video game, who would you be and what is your story or mission?
Lyndon: Oh I’d be in one of those sandbox type games and wouldn’t be following any story or mission. I would be off somewhere enjoying the sights or just trying to find a glitch or bug that would allow me to do things that you normally wouldn’t be allowed to do.
Her Interactive: If you could live in any environment from the games, where would you choose?
Lyndon: It’d have to be Japan. Shadows at the Water’s Edge took place in Kyoto, Japan, right? Then Kyoto it is.
Her Interactive: What is your favorite color combination?
Lyndon: I’m not into sports, but it works out for being in Seattle. Blue and Green.
Her Interactive: If you had the opportunity to stay the night in any of the following places, which would you choose?
A) A castle
B) A haunted ryokan
C) An old movie theatre
D) A ranch
Lyndon: A haunted ryokan. As long as it’s in Japan, I think being haunted would be an afterthought. Besides, it’s just one night. Think of all the cool places you can go to afterwards.
Her Interactive: Do you have any fun or funny stories you would like to share?
Lyndon: Around the office there’s a nature path and depending on the season there are geese. Me and a friend were walking and catching up on work and life. We both heard hissing and looked around. Mother and Father goose were mad that we even thought of walking this close to their babies. They chased us and we ran as if we were running from a giant bear or something. I have yet to see anyone else run like that. I see little kids and elderly people just stand their ground. Funny? Maybe. Embarrassing? Yes.
Her Interactive: If you could have a super power or super skill, what would it be and why?
Lyndon: Time travel. I’d go back and see where my ancestors came from and how they lived. Oh and I’d bring a sports almanac with me to…uh, read for enjoyment.
Her Interactive: What is your favorite movie?
Lyndon: Oh boy, so many to choose from. Do I have to pick just one? I’ve referenced it once, and I’m sure I’ll do it again…Back to the Future.
Her Interactive: Tea or coffee?
Lyndon: Coffee, most definitely.
Her Interactive: “Gangnam Style” or “Call Me Maybe”?
Lyndon: “Lopan Style”
Her Interactive: What’s your biggest pet peeve?
Lyndon: The commute to work. I wish I had a flying car that ran on garbage for fuel.
Thanks Lyndon for helping to create the environments of The Deadly Device! We are looking forward to seeing your work in future games!
