Interview with Producer, Rob!

We interviewed our Producer, Rob!

Her Interactive: How long have you worked at Her Interactive?

Rob: Oh, about 6 years, 8 months and 24 days.

Her Interactive: What do you do as the Producer? What project(s) are you currently working on?

Rob: A little bit of a lot. I do a little programming, sit in on some design meetings, review the state of the game, run regular meetings related to the current game in development, and pick up any odds and ends that might otherwise fall through the cracks.  However my most valuable role is to keep lines of communication open and control/manage the schedule.  When everyone knows exactly what needs to be done it is much easier to work towards big goals.

At the moment, working furiously to get all the bugs fixed in The Deadly Device and insure all our ducks are in a line so we can release on time!

Her Interactive: When you aren’t making awesome games, what do you do for fun? Any hobbies?

Rob: My injures keep me from participating in kung-fu  or playing Ice Hockey any more so I’m down to just: Miniature painting, tinkering, costume making, home repair (this counts right?), board/card/video gaming, designing board games for my personal playgroup, and flying lessons (just a few so far).

Her Interactive: Is there a location you’d like to see Nancy visit, or something you’d like to see Nancy do?

Rob: The world is full of wonderfully interesting places to visit, but that won’t do.  Nancy needs to go to Space.

Her Interactive: If you were the main character of a video game, who would you be and what is your story or mission?

Rob: It would be a strategy/puzzle game where there are many people, places, and objects in discord and you must use your limited actions and time to arrange every element in balance and harmony, ideally while piloting a giant Mecha.

Her Interactive: If you had to choose between one of the following dishes from the games, what would your choice be?

  • Granny’s Cajun Cooking Gumbo
  • German Sausage
  • Bento
  • Cuisses de Grenouille

Rob: I’d try them all at least once. You never know what you’ll like unless you try it.  However I’ve never had a bad German Sausage.

Her Interactive: What is your favorite movie?

Rob: Yojimbo, directed by Akira Kurosawa.  Well directed, well shot, great characters, legitimately funny.  Don’t pass on it just because it is subtitled and shot in black and white.

Her Interactive: What is your favorite color combination?

Rob: White on Blue, clean and contrasting, also it looks great on a car.

Her Interactive: Do you have a favorite saying or quote?

Rob: “We all reap what we sow.”

The world is a complex and intertwined place, put extra thought towards how your actions will affect yourself, and the people and things around you.

Thanks Rob for helping to create and produce our Nancy Drew games!
