Dreams

Yesterday was a day of remembrance for heroes past; a national holiday that helps to celebrate equality, non-violence, and human rights.  Martin Luther King, Jr. was an inspirational leader that helped shape our modern world by dreaming of a peaceful nation, free from the chains of prejudice.  His messages still resonate with people around the globe and still affect change.  In his lifetime, he preached for harmony and peace, and we’re still working to make that dream a reality.  You can find a few of his memorable and moving quotes below:

“All progress is precarious, and the solution of one problem brings us face to face with another problem.”

“An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.”

“Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable… Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.”

Here at Her Interactive, Dr. King’s message is still inspiring us to make change in a way that we’re passionate about.  We strive to break stereotypes and the boundaries they create that still exist in our world.  It’s hard to believe that some people still think that video games shouldn’t be made for girls!  We believe that video games can be created that uniquely appeal to women, and that it doesn’t mean making it pink and “girly.”  But we know (and you can back me up on this) that girls want to play games just as much as boys.  Of course we’d also love to get the boys involved, because we’re sure they like fun, interactive mystery too!

That’s right, Nancy Drew isn’t just a hero for the girls!  Though it may seem as though we’ve each got our sleuthing idols; Nancy Drew for the gals, Hardy Boys for the guys, there are a myriad of differences between the characters that make them stirring to both genders.  In fact, I (as a boy) think Nancy is simply amazing for her bravery and determination to be able to overcome so many dangerous and tricky situations all by herself!   And I’m sure there are quite a few ladies out there that respect the cooperation and teamwork demonstrated by the Hardy Boys.  When you get right down to it, whether its age, gender, race, or religion, there’s no reason we all can’t work together and make the world a better place.

“The hope of a secure and livable world lies with disciplined nonconformists who are dedicated to justice, peace and brotherhood.”
