TWISTS OF FATE AND WEATHER COLLIDE IN NANCY DREW: TRAIL OF THE TWISTER
Latest Adventure Game from Her Interactive Launches for PC and Mac as Part of 80th Anniversary Celebration of Nancy Drew
BELLEVUE, Wash., June 28, 2010 – A storm is brewing for everyone’s favorite teen detective Nancy Drew in the latest mystery adventure game from award-winning developer Her Interactive. With a $100 million prize on the line, Nancy is thrust into a world of wild weather, high technology, secret conversations, mysterious dealings, and ulterior motives. Nancy Drew: Trail of the Twister launches for PC and Mac on June 29, 2010, the 80th anniversary year for Nancy Drew.
A competition is underway to discover a formula to predict tornado touchdowns. The prize is $100 million. But, equipment starts failing and crew members are getting injured. Is it bad luck or is someone sabotaging the competition? Playing as Nancy Drew, it’s up to you to put the pieces together and catch the culprits as you go undercover as a competitive storm chaser. Rich visuals, dangerous weather, new challenges, unique characters, and new puzzles all combine to make this Nancy’s wildest adventure yet.
“It’s been 80 years since Nancy Drew first appeared in print and now she has evolved into one of the most beloved female characters of all time,” says Megan Gaiser, CEO, Her Interactive. “Her winning combination of smarts and spunk is tailor-made for gaming. Girls – and players – of all ages will love the twists and turns we’ve added to our latest adventure game. Nancy may be 80, but she always be our favorite teen ready to tackle any challenge, even tornadoes.”
In Trail of the Twister, weather is a central theme. Players must immerse themselves in meteorology by studying clouds, reading Doppler data, driving the Doppler truck and maintaining weather equipment… not to mention surviving tornadoes. The game features a number of unique puzzles to solve along the way, including buying supplies within a budget and trapping mice. There are also arcade games within the game to play in order to win pennies for purchasing collectible goodies from the store.
And, if you take a risk that ends badly, don’t worry about having to start over. The game will automatically return the player to the point before the fatal mistake. The game also features two difficulty settings, Junior or Senior Detective, to allow players of all skill levels to solve the mystery.
Nancy Drew: Trail of the Twister is available at a suggested retail price of $19.99. Her Interactive is publishing the game in a dual format disc, playable on both Windows PCs and, for the first time, Apple Mac computers. The game is rated E with Mild Violence, Comic Mischief.
