MEGAN GAISER WINS HONORARY TRAILBLAZER AWARD AT INDIECADE
Trailblazer Award Recognizes Pioneers of the Independent Game Development Community
BELLEVUE, Wash., October 20, 2011 – IndieCade, the International Festival of Independent Games, has bestowed its Trailblazer Award for Lifetime Achievement on Megan Gaiser, Chief Creative Strategy Officer (CCSO), Her Interactive. The award was presented to Ms. Gaiser at the 2011 Red Carpet Award Show Thursday, October 6, by actor Samm Levine. The Trailblazer Award honors pioneering videogame industry veterans whose careers and contributions embody the indie spirit and provide inspiration to others.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by IndieCade and to receive such an inspiring validation for our creativity, perseverance and dedication. I’m even more thrilled to be able to share this award with the rest of my team at Her Interactive,” said Trailblazer Award recipient, Megan Gaiser. “We started out with the slogan ‘for girls who aren’t afraid of a mouse.’ Now it’s ‘Dare to Play,’ and I’d like to extend that to all of you talented and creative people. Buck the system, ignore the naysayers, trust your gut and take risks to create extraordinary games!”
Ms. Gaiser is one of the sole survivors of the pioneering Girl Game Movement of the 1990’s. Her Interactive has delighted audiences of all stripes, helping keep the adventure game genre alive with its award-winning and beloved Nancy Drew series, which has sold more than nine million units worldwide. Ms. Gaiser was named one of the Game Industry’s 100 Most Influential Women by Next Generation and one of the Top 10 Most Influential Women of the Decade by Kotaku.
