HER INTERACTIVE CCSO MEGAN GAISER MAKES HER NEXT MOVE
BELLEVUE, Wash., August 27, 2013 – Her Interactive, the premier developer and publisher of mystery adventure video games, today announced that Megan Gaiser, former CEO and current Chief Creative Strategy Officer (CCSO), is leaving to form a new venture.
“It has long been my passion to use my leadership and expertise to improve standards around the portrayal of women in media. Now is the time to pursue this on a much broader scale,” says Gaiser. Gaiser plans to collaborate with entertainment industry leaders and academics to further influence the development of standards around the positive portrayal of female characters in games and media. In addition, she will continue to consult independently on a myriad of socially focused ‘games for good’ initiatives both here and abroad.
Under her stewardship, Her Interactive has grown the globally-loved Nancy Drew games into a household name with sales topping 9 million units worldwide. The Nancy Drew PC/MAC series is the #1 franchise in the U.S., garnering 28 consecutive Parents’ Choice Awards. Gaiser has been named one of the “Game Industry’s 100 Most Influential Women” by Next Generation and “Top 10 Most Influential Women of the Decade” by Gaming Angels. She also received the 2010 Microsoft Women in Games award and the 2011 IndieCade Honorary Trailblazer Award for Lifetime Achievement.
“We are very grateful to Megan for everything she has done at Her Interactive,” Stuart Moulder, CEO, Her Interactive, said. “The Nancy Drew series of games is one of the longest running series ever created and are a credit to Megan’s creativity and vision. We wish Megan all the best as she takes on the next chapter in her own story.”
“It has been an honor to work with such an incredibly talented and passionate team, as well as an extremely dedicated board, at Her Interactive. Through creative collaboration, we defined a market niche for female gamers in the Nancy Drew franchise,” Gaiser said. “My 15 years have been the adventure of a lifetime. I will miss working in such a dynamic environment. I will forever remain a Her Interactive ambassador.”
