Hidden Venice Screenshots cont.

I, for one, am extremely impressed that our message board members were able to find the hidden screenshots! Here's the thread that has the links: http://community.herinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=841892

Of course we changed the little flaw on our website - you won't be able to see the directory structures anymore. So the next round of screenshots won't be so easy to find. That or I'm putting in different directories. I'm sure this is jibberish to some people, so if it is, take to the time to learn about directory structures for webpages. :) You might find yourself creating your own Nancy Drew fan page someday and knowing about directory structures will certinally come in handy.

OH yea, the March newsletter was sent out today! Check it out for some information about the next game - The Phantom of Venice.

Hidden Venice Screenshots

We've hidden two screenshots from The Phantom of Venice in the Her Interactive website. Do you think you can use your super sleuthing skills to find them?

Is It That Time Already?

It's March. Actually, it's the middle of March. And we're naming things, creating packaging, pulling screenshots, and making plans for our next big launch already! I don't know if I'm excited that we're getting the gears rolling, or if I'm horrified that we're launching our 18th game in just a few more months! What's there to be horrified about? There's no such thing as too many Nancy Drew games afterall. Well, it feels like we just finished Legend of the Crystal Skull, but in actuality, half a year has already passed.

Ian's working on the very first trailer for The Phantom of Venice. We're working on shortening it, but I think you'll be very excited to get a first peek at the game.

Speaking of things to come, the Nancy Drew DVD is coming out on Tuesday! The office is going to rent a popcorn machine and watch the movie together this Friday! I'm excited to see Nancy's sleuth kit again and watch for all the details I missed in the movie theater. Are any of you guys going to throw a Nancy Drew movie party this weekend and watch it with your friends?

Trail of Cookies

The Girl Scouts came on Friday and we gave them a tour of the office. You would think that touring a gaming company might be fun, but really, all we have is computers here. All the magic happens on a computer, so there isn't very much to interact or oooh and ahhh at. Our job is to make it understandable and fun to young girls. Maybe they'll choose careers in the gaming industry someday too.

The girls talked to a few artists and saw how characters and envirnonments are created. Then they went to production and helped choose a sound for Nancy knocking on a door. You'd be surprised how many different types of knocking sounds there are... Afterwards, we split into two groups and half of the group tested out the newest game and the other half listened to a presentation on how the game is made from beginning to end. The girls did a great job voice acting and solving IF -> THEN logic puzzles! Of course we switched after 30 minutes so everyone had a chance to play the game.

Although we're pretty busy, we always try to give back to the community and give girls the opportunity to learn more about careers in technology. With more games targeted toward girls, the industry needs more women to help design and create these games. Would you like to be an artist or programmer for the Nancy Drew? Check our job page for positions.

Here are two slides from the powerpoint presentation:
