Spring into fashion

Fashion week just finished in Milan not too long ago, and I'm excited about some of the trends for spring!

1) Lace - I thought this was only going to be used in the fall/winter season, but they've used lighter colors to give clothes a very Victorian and feminine flair for the spring.
2) Bold prints - this is a great way to make a statement! The vibrant colors jump out and instantly brighten your mood.
3) Tiers and ruffles - again, this softens up the style this season with a more romantic feel.
4) Earth tones - the past few years, spring has been about citus colors, but this year, it's a return to the neutrals as well as black and white.

I can't wait until the weather starts to warm up!

Baking a mystery II

Super-sleuths figured out the first one pretty quickly. I wonder who likes these?
*Always ask an adult for help when using the stove

4 eggs, lightly beaten
1 1/3 cups milk
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt

1) In large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, melted butter, flour sugar and salt until smooth.

2) Heat a medium-sized skillet over medium heat. Grease pan with a small amount of butter or oil applied with a brush or paper towel. Using a serving spoon or small ladle, spoon about 3 tablespoons batter into hot pan, tilting the pan so that bottom surface is evenly coated. Cook over medium heat, 1 to 2 minutes on a side, or until golden brown.

3) Sprinkle with sugar and lemon, or serve with cream or ice cream and fruit. Serve immediately.

Baking a mystery

What could this be??? And does it taste good?
*Always ask an adult for help when using the oven.

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 egg
1 egg yolk
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

DIRECTIONS:
1) Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease baking sheets or line with parchment paper.

2) Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.

3) In a medium bowl, cream together the melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar until well blended. Beat in the vanilla, egg, and egg yolk until light and creamy. Mix in the sifted ingredients until just blended. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using a wooden spoon. Drop mixture 1/4 cup at a time onto the prepared baking sheets. Place drops about 3 inches apart.

4) Bake for 15 to 17 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are lightly toasted. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Pleasure to meet you

I just saw the characters for DAN for the very first time - and they are amazing! The cast of characters that our designers assembled for this game is quite interesting. There's everything from handsome strangers to slightly eccentric (or maybe very eccentric). My personal favorite is the exotic model.

When I was reviewing the characters with the artist, he mentioned something about 8 heads and 10 bodies. It sounded a little bit like mix and match Frankenstien body parts, but it turns out that he was talking about poses for each character. The character's heads have 8 positions and their bodies 10. Together, they are combined for character moviements and animations. Pretty cool, huh?
