Dare to Play!

During one of my internships in college, I spent a lot of time moderating at a gaming company. We tested TCGs with younger kids, boys mostly, and tried to understand what would make the game better. It was challenging to understand what they were thinking and why they did the things they did, especially when it made perfect sense to the designers to do something a different way. But that's exactly it - we have a rather narrow view of the world, but when you're creating something, you need to make sure that it works and is fun for people other than yourself and your peers.
