THE
MEANING OF THE MASK! Nancy continues to research the culture of Venice in preparation for her next case, Nancy Drew(R): The Phantom of Venice, releasing July 2008. View the trailer Venetians are reeling with anger after a recent string of thefts, and the Italian police have no leads. Witnesses say Il Fantasma (The Phantom) wears a mask from the Commedia Dell'Arte as his disguise. It's Carnavale, however, and everyone dresses in elaborate costumes to celebrate the occasion. There's no telling if the masked phantom is a thief or reveler! But what is the meaning of the mask he wears? Match the name and description to the correct mask and send in your answers to webmaster@herinteractive.com by April 30, 2008 with the subject line "MASKS." We'll randomly draw 5 entries from the correct answers to receive a copy of the Nancy Drew movie. The Commedia Dell'Arte (artistic comedy) is an unscripted form of theatre performance also known as Italian comedy. Although they perform different stories, the characters remain the same. Characters always wear the same costumes and masks so the audience can identify them easily.
