HER INTERACTIVE WINS PARENTS’ CHOICE GOLD MEDAL FOR
NANCY DREW: TREASURE IN THE ROYAL TOWER
Award Marks Third Time Her Interactive Product Honored By Foundation

BELLEVUE, Wash., November 5, 2001 – Her Interactive, a leading developer of interactive entertainment for girls, today announced that its new PC game, Nancy Drew: Treasure in The Royal Tower, has received a Parents’ Choice Gold Award. The award is sponsored by the Parents’ Choice Foundation, one of the top U.S. organizations evaluating products geared to children. Released in August 2001, Treasure in The Royal Tower is the fourth title in the popular Nancy Drew computer game series, created by Her Interactive.

The Parents' Choice Awards recognize excellence in several media targeted at children including toys, audio, books, computer software, magazines, videos, television programming, and video games. More than 2,000 products were entered across all categories. Treasure in The Royal Tower was chosen as a gold winner in the Software category for kids ages 10 and up. This is the third time the Parents’ Choice Foundation has awarded a gold medal – its highest honor -- to Her Interactive’s titles. The company’s games received gold medals last fall and spring for its second and third Nancy Drew computer games called Nancy Drew: Stay Tuned for Danger and Nancy Drew: Message in a Haunted Mansion, respectively. The latter, ranked 15 in sales on NPD’s Intelect list of the Top 100 Childrens titles during the third quarter of 2001, outranking all of the Barbie titles for that quarter.

“We’re honored to have received this citation for the third time,” said Megan Gaiser, president of Her Interactive. “The award stands for quality products that make for a positive, fun experience for kids and the entire Her Interactive team is proud to be recognized for that.”

Award winners are selected in a two-step process by committees across the United States comprised of teachers; librarians; directors of education and science museums; scientists; musicians; psychiatrists; Girl Scout leaders; guidance counselors; computer lab instructors; artists; theologians; special needs program educators and administrators; parents, grandparents, and kids. Products that are recommended by these committees are then referred to a panel of judges, who base their evaluations on a range of criteria that include production values, human values, and the extent to which the product challenges, inspires, and entertains young people.

Treasure in The Royal Tower places Nancy on a ski vacation. She is staying at an old castle where her activities are interrupted by a fierce blizzard. Snowbound inside the castle, Nancy learns of an elaborate plot devised by Marie Antoinette more than 200 years ago to hide a royal treasure. Everyone Nancy encounters in her investigation is looking for lost treasures; some are searching for love, others for riches. As Nancy winds her way through beautifully illustrated 360 degree 3D environments, she begins to uncover the rich history of the lodge, as well as some mysterious events, all leading to the hidden treasure. In addition to following a detailed, complex storyline comprised of historic events, characters and facts, players can interact with a variety of entertaining 3D characters, all with intriguing personalities and secrets to protect. The clever player will be able to solve the mystery.
