Interactive Mystery Game Receives Top Honors in Parents Choice Awards

BELLEVUE, Wash - June 8, 2000 HerInteractive.com, has just received the prestigious Parents’ Choice Gold Award for its computer mystery game, "Nancy Drew: Stay Tuned for Danger".

The award is a major coup for the small company of 12 employees. "Nancy Drew: Stay Tuned for Danger" was selected from among 1,200 toy and game entries for the Spring 2000 Parents' Choice Awards. Stay Tuned for Danger, the second title in Her Interactive’s Nancy Drew series, won the Gold award in the category of software for 10-16 year olds.

"This (software) category is the strongest it has been in years," said Claire S. Green, executive director of Parents' Choice. "Our winners entertain, nurture, enlighten, and challenge children in ways not dreamt of even a decade ago."

The award comes on the heels of a critical study about girls and technology by the American Association of University Women. The report revealed a growing disinterest among girls in the computer culture. The study cited violent computer games that stereotype females as one of the reasons girls have lost interest in computers.

"The Parents’ Choice award sends a strong message that great computer games can be about high skill, instead of high kill," said Her Interactive president, Megan Gaiser. "Our Nancy Drew games are cool without cruelty, and they appeal to anyone who loves the challenge of a good mystery."
