For the Fans
Mon, 2010-10-25 17:48 — HerInteractiveNancy Drew: Shadow at the Water's Edge was a game for our fans - it's the culmination of a lot of meetings, hours of scouring the message board, and analyzing post mortem surveys. The more feedback you give us, the better our games will be. See, we make games for the fans, so we to solicit feedback from our fans and keep an open conversation. You can always email us at feedback@herinteractive.com or leave messages for us on any of our other public forums such as the message board, Facebook, Twitter, Amateur sleuth, and Dare to Play blog pages. We read all of it!
Additionally, we wanted to give our fans something extra for Nancy Drew's 80th Anniversary. We've created an amazing collection for our diehard fans based on answers we received from a survey we conducted last year. We asked what your favorite games were and you said: Curse of Blackmoor Manor, Treasure in a Royal Tower, and Secret of Shadow Ranch. So we decided to put these games in a container. Some of you may have seen our Facebook poll whether to use a vintage lunchbox or a generic tin earlier in the year. Again, the fans voted and the tin edged the lunchbox out by just a hair. We also had to design the tin to make it unique to Her Interactive, so we used some of the iconic art from the box covers to adorn the tin. We chose to use purple as our main color to complement Curse of Blackmoor Manor and Treasure in a Royal Tower's themes. The tin turned out very nicely and can be used to store your magnifying glass or other clues you collect for your case.
To really make the Collector's Edition Fan Favorites extra special, we created a one of a kind journal with never seen before concept art. As you can imagine, we have lots of archives of art that has never been released, so we went digging through a lot of CDs to find some of the coolest art from these games. These concept sketches are what the artist imagined the world to be before they were translated into digital files. Most of our digital art is put together using shapes with textures on them, so pencil sketches just give the artists a base to build on. We have a cactus, saddle, coat of arms, keys, armor, etc. that we're excited to show in the coming weeks.
The Collector's Edition Fan Favorites tin is $49.99, so make sure you ask for it for your birthday or get it on your holiday wish list! There's only 5,000 of them available and you can only purchase them from www.HerInteractive.com. We start shipping the tins on November 1st. Are you planning on getting this special collection?

Beyond a Shadow of a Doubt
Mon, 2010-10-11 18:09 — HerInteractiveThe first reviews from our scariest adventure game, Nancy Drew: Shadow at the Water's Edge are just starting to come in. These are some very dedicated fans overnighted the game and then spent the day playing non-stop so they could get a review for the game up. Judging by these reviews, this game will probably make the top 3 favorite Nancy Drew games on your list. The reviewers loved the snooping, the characters, and the ending! Some have even hailed it as returning to 'classic' Nancy Drew - something that many people have said to be missing from our recent games. While not every game is everyone's favorite, we think this one might have a shot at becoming the new reigning favorite, usurping Curse of Blackmoor Manor. But we'll see once we get more fan reviews in...
Here are exerpts from the reviews on our free online gaming community. Check out the review section to read the reviews in full.

SAW was a great ND game! Totally in my top 3. This game had everything: puzzles, a great story line, characters and snooping. In my opininon this game is 10000 times better then TOT. This game brought classic Nancy Drew back for me.

Overall: ★★★★★ (5/5)
After all of the worrying that HER was losing their touch and they were over-hyping the scariness, I wasn't expecting too much from them. I was definitely excited, but didn't want to get my hopes up. I was pretty shocked then, when I played it and it was absolutely fantastic!! I don't think anyone will be disappointed. It was 100% their scariest game, IMO. There wasn't any constant random hauntings like in MHM, but there was some legit scary stuff that happened. It was one of HER's recent best, and I'd say, one of the best in the series. I'd reccomend it to anyone who's a fan of the scary games, or Nancy Drew games in general. ♥

Last Chance!
Tue, 2010-10-05 13:21 — HerInteractiveTomorrow is the last day to get the boxed Special Edition version of Nancy Drew: Shadow at the Water's Edge! The Special Edition includes extra outfits for in-game avatars, games for Nancy's cell phone, and bonus outtakes. Hopefully you have already ordered it! Otherwise, you can still preorder the special edition for download through 10/18. The game will be in-stores on Tuesday 10/19 at all major retailers.
We start shipping the boxed games on Thursday 10/7, so grab a few friends and get ready for some scares! How scary is this game exactly? Well, put it this way, the soundtrack alone gives us the creeps! Nevermind punctuating with ghostly whispers, creaking floorboards, and muffled footsteps. We've also had a lot of people in the office who have tested the game say that kept them up for nights! Whether that's because the game was so scary or so difficult remains something we should probably look into...
Do you want to taste of what you're getting into? Download our free game demo (238MB), but please be patient as it take a while. Also, check out John Gray's tour of the ryokan that you'll be staying in - it's considered one of the most haunted hot spots in Japan: www.ShadowAtTheWatersEdge.com.
