Embarking on a Mobile Mystery
Mon, 2010-09-27 17:44 — HerInteractiveYesterday, we announced some exciting news about playing Nancy Drew anytime, anywhere with our new series Nancy Drew Mobile Mysteries!
Riptide, our developer, is also quite excited on creating this text-based adventure series as well! Together, we're bringing a whole new twist on the classic novel by allowing the user to choose your own culprits, interrogation questions, and next steps while reading a book.
Well, it's not just a book. It's a game book, or interactive novel if you prefer. There's going to be mini-games, baffling mysteries, awards, and a whole lot more! The game will debut in December, so that's plenty of time to get an iPod touch, iPad, or iPhone. You won't want to miss out as we go back to Shadow Ranch to explore a lost mine, reign in a phantom horse, and catch a ghostly thief. Why Shadow Ranch? Well, it's one of our most popular games and also the best-sellling Nancy Drew book for all time.
This game is for anyone who loves reading a good mystery. You'll get to choose Nancy Drew's adventures and meeting some of your favorite Her Interactive characters along the way. There's not a lot of details for us to give out right now, but keep checking back for more information.
PS. Have you played our free online game based on Nancy Drew: Shadow at the Water's Edge? The game is currently available for preorder (get the special edition with all the fun extras) and will be in stores on 10/19!
Meet Yumi Shimizu
Mon, 2010-09-20 18:27 — HerInteractiveWe are in full launch mode for Nancy Drew: Shadow at the Water's Edge! Preorders started yesterday and you need to make sure you get your order in to receive the Special Edition version featuring additional outfits for the phone avatars, arcade games on Nancy's cell phone, and bonus outtakes. These are oddly fun sounding extras for a game that promises to be the scariest one yet!
Well, where there's dark, there's also light. So while Shadow at the Water's Edge takes place mostly at night with errie ghost wailings and creepy music, we'd like to present to you the brighter, uh pinker, side of the game - Yumi Shimizu. Yumi is the eldest sister, who according to tradition, is supposed to inheirt the inn that her family owns. However, she wants nothing to do with it and would rather focus on fashion, food, and modern technology. By moving to the neon lights of Kyoto, Yumi chose to start a very different life from her sister, Miwako, who stayed to manage the inn in her older sister's abscence.
Kyoto is known for its wild fashion. You can see it in these picture below and Yumi is no exception in her self-made pink dress!

To get some of these looks for yourself, try Yumi's Fashion Editor! Then use the look that you created as your avatar for your IM, Facebook, or Twitter profile to show off your style!
These are just the basics though - Yumi's daily blog will go into a lot more detail about her favorite things. Leave her comments - she'll respond when she has time. What are you waiting for, check out her blog and get to know her before you meet her in Nancy Drew: Shadow at the Water's Edge.
PS. Make sure you get your Ghost Hunter Certification at www.ShadowAtTheWatersEdge.com before you play the game!
Shadow of a Game
Tue, 2010-09-14 11:08 — HerInteractiveExciting news for the fall launch of Nancy Drew: Shadow at the Water's Edge (PC/Mac) - preorders will start next Monday 9/20 for both adventure game downloads and boxed games.
We're also excited to offer a Special Edition version of the game for all preorders! All you have to do is preorder the game to receive this special edition that includes exclusive content such as:
* additional outfits for your avatar
* Land Rush from Trail of the Twister and Memory from Warnings at Waverly Academy on Nancy's cell phone
* extra outtakes
* more tricks for Suki
Also next week, Yumi is going to start blogging. Who's Yumi you ask? Yumi is the eldest daughter who lives in Kyoto, but she was supposed to be the one to manage the family ryokan. She loves fashion, pink, and the fast life in the city. You'll have a chance to post comments and get to know this modern girl better through her blog. Check for the link on the Shadow at the Water's Edge point and click adventure game page on Monday.
We haven't forgotten about the Shadow at the Water's Edge mini-game and microsite either. We're still working on them and hope to have them live sometime this week. Wow, there's so much information - we hope we're not overloading you!
Are you ready to face your fears and preorder Nancy Drew: Shadow at the Water's Edge next Monday?
SAWing through some fun stuff
Fri, 2010-09-03 12:59 — HerInteractiveWith Nancy Drew: Secrets Can Kill now in stores and the reviews coming in for the game, we are hoping that we got the message out to our fans that this game is a must have! You can purchase it for download on our site or go to Target, Walmart, and Best Buy to get it in stores.
We're already starting to gear up for our next launch though - Nancy Drew: Shadow at the Water's Edge! Yes, our fall release is coming up soon and we are very busy trying to create things that will get you more interested in the game. We've seen comments that you guys are loving the creepy trailer, and we'd just like to say that the game won't disappoint as far as scary goes!
First up, we usually create a mini-game for our website. This time is no exception! While the mini-game won't be scary, we think you'll be interested to hear that it's similar to Danger by Design's mini-game, except better! The Danger by Design mini-game was the second minigame we ever created, so we were still learning, but I think we've got things figured out more now. Screenshot of the prototype anyone?

We are also creating a microsite as well. This time, we're going to make it a little bit different by paying a visit to a dear old friend whose career is ghost hunting. The last time we saw him, he was on a train, but this time, he'll be conducting paranormal tours to the ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) that Nancy Drew is heading to. We're excited to be able to bring back a character from a previous game and build a website for him! We think that our interprizing sleuths will be able to figure out who we're alluding to...
So, make sure you've played Nancy Drew: Secrets Can Kill REMASTERED and Nancy Drew: Trail of the Twister - and then get ready to be scared by Nancy Drew: Shadow at the Water's Edge!
