Creature Comforts

'Creature' is really coming together now! There is enough art and code in the game now that I can almost start to play through it. Its crazy how quickly it all comes together right at the end.

This weeks highlights:
  • I met with the box designer on Wednesday and we brainstormed some terrific ideas for the cover image.
  • The opening scene is being created - it's going to be scarrrry.
  • All of the character animations are in the game. They look great. Big Island Mike and Quigley are a hoot.
  • The final puzzle has been a huge challenge for design, art, development and production- it will be worth it!

Have fun!

Gone Sleuthing

The phones are quiet today for the first time in weeks. Even our localization coordinator and marketing intern have returned to their normal jobs. And just maybe, our admin and sales coordinator have found some semblence of sanity. It's not quite over yet though. We still have to launch the game at retail before we start working on CRE.

I guess most of our hardcore fans have Danger by Design and are excitely solving the mystery. Do you guys like it so far? Was this your favorite setting? Where you surprised by the ending? These questions float in my mind and I wonder what our fans are thinking. Can you tell me? We'll hear more from the media critics in the coming weeks, but it's our fans that are the most important voice.

Zero hour

Welcome to Day 2 of DAN launch. Yesterday was incredible - we had so many hits on our website and calls flooding the phone lines. You guys are the greatest! I never knew we had so many fans out there who loved us enough to be patient while we're trying to squeak by with our hobbling online store.

This is the second launch with our online store and it's been a learning process. We've grown more than we had ever anticipated and we thank our fans for that. Of course, there are growing pains and we hope to get through them. Zero hour is exciting as it is terrifying (for all the things that could go wrong).

It saddens me that our online store has to be taken down for maintenance in the middle of one of our greatest launches, but it heartens me to know that you guys keeps trying so hard to order DAN.

So call us to order your game! We want to talk to you and hear your thoughts. Nancy Drew fans unite!

Past, Present, Future

With 'Danger by Design' hitting the shelves any second now, it's hard to believe that production on 'The Creature of Kapu Cave' is on the home stretch already. I took a breather last week to play some of the previous titles. One observation I made was how well 'Danger' intertwines a historical story with the present day. 'Train' did too. ‘Creature’ will also tells two stories, but both take place in the present day.

This got me to thinking. What if ND17 tells two stories; one in present day and one that will take place in the future? Of course, we won’t even start design on ND17 until the future. By that time the future will probably be the present, and the present will already be the past. Oh well. Nancy Drew in the future would be kewl.

Don't Worry - Be Happy!

It seems a lot of people are stressing over the release of DAN. Let's just catch our breath, think happy thoughts - like... Cats in Sinks!

Paris Fashion Inspiration

JJ's closet is filled with the coolest outfits straight from the catwalks of Paris. When we designed the Paris Fashion Adventure mini-game, we looked through magazines, watched fashion shows, and scoured the internet for the latest trends. Here are some of the outfits we found that inspired the clothes for our mini-game.

This one is from Chanel. It's perfect to wear to the office.

Here's my favorite shirt in JJ's closet - it's a Pucci design. It's pretty casual, yet it's fun and feminine enough to wear to a party.

And what's haute couture without a gorgeous evening gown fit for a princess? We changed ours to coral to make it less like a wedding gown.

This is 'outrageous' by Christian Lacroix.

And one more that I just have to share with you! If I could choose any outfit from the Spring couture collections, this would be it!

JJ is so lucky that she gets to wear all these couture fashions. I guess the next best thing is playing Paris Fashion Adventure. Dress JJ up in your favorite outfit and then email it everyone (don't forget yourself!) to admire. Strike a pose!
