Inspired by Nancy Drew

Growing up I spent an entire summer devouring the Nancy Drew books. I'd always try to see if I could figure out the mystery before Nancy did AND get it right. Well, I was only right about half of the time, and Nancy was right all of the time. But that's why she's Nancy Drew, heroine extra-ordinaire and #17 coolest hero of all time.

Still I learned a lot from Nancy Drew. She taught me a few things: 1) follow your instincts; 2) the clues are always in the details; 3) be prepared for anything; 4) being polite and cheerful will persuade people to give you answers and lastly 5) mind wins over matter. Those are lessons that continue to help me in my life today.

Apparently, I was not the only one who read Nancy Drew books and knew that I would someday be destined to take on her plight (I'm working for the company that creates her games after all and tracking down disappearing pens...). Supreme Court Justice Nominee Sonia Sotomayer, Sandra Day O'Conner, and Ruth Ginsburg were all fans of Nancy Drew as well.

So how did Nancy Drew inspire you? What lessons did you learn from reading the books and solving the mysteries?

It all started with the line “Nancy Drew, an attractive girl of eighteen, was driving home along a country road in her new dark-blue convertible…” and I was hooked. I was around 8 or 9 and I had just found the book in my closet. The book had been my sister‘s, and since she had moved out, my mom said I could have it. That was the day I fell in love with all things Nancy Drew.

i used to read the Nancy Drew Notebooks when i was younger and really enjoyed them (i also liked trying to figure out the mystery before Nancy but i wasn't so great at that). i learned to be curious about things and to stick to what you believe even when it doesn't seem possible. i really enjoyed the books and now i really enjoy the games and i know a lot of my friends enjoy the games as well.

I learned that evenn if you are underestimated, you can do anything. I CAN'T wait for the new game! WHEN DOES IT COME OUT?!?!

She inspires girls in so many ways. What you said is all true but, its more than that. Her curiosity is how it all started. Yet, how one girl could make such a difference in the lives of people who were involved in her mysteries. Is simply amazing and it makes you wonder. Things are not always as they seem and Nancy makes you take notice of those things. Nancy Drew is an amazing heroine and so is the writer behind the character.

She inspired me to do what I do today. To become what I am. She makes me feel like no matter who you are, if you set your mind and heart to it, you can do anything. I learned that in dangerous times always have a friend or someone close to you by you, believein yourself and it doesn't matter if you are a boy or a girl you can do anything.

Nancy Drew has inspired me by her bravery and willingness to take the challenge no matter how hard it is. I've learned so much from playing the games. I've learned about history, cultures, languages, and many different things from playing the game. I love mystery stories very much. I've learned how to use logic.

I learned from Nancy to always pay attention to what's going on around you. Ever since I started reading the Nancy Drew books I've caught little tiny details in everything I read, see, or hear! I'm really glad I started reading them. :)
